So I was on the way to my trapeze class and first One Night in Bangkok, then West End Girls came on the radio, and I was amused and abashed to realize that I still knew all the words to each one, and was feeling kinda old and geeky, and then I thought, wait, I’m on the way to my trapeze class…so, old, geeky, yet also game.

Hi, I just finished reading Empress of the World, and just wanted to say that I absolutely loved it. The romance between Nic and Battle (best name ever) was really sweet and realistic, and I totally identified with Katrina! (computer obsession, teacher crushes)
Most of all I loved the humour — it was just the kind of gags I can imagine making with my own friends. :D

I’m really looking forward to reading the sequel, can’t wait!

see, that’s what i thought you probably meant, but then i wondered if there was some kind of exciting new meaning that hadn’t hit my radar. you probably could’ve made something up, even. ;)

I’m so very impressed that you know all the words to One Night in Bangkok. It’s my favorite song to pretend I know all the words to, while doing the “I’m driving a car” dance.
