I’d forgotten

the kind of sore throat where every single time you swallow (which you avoid as much as possible), you wince involuntarily. And your tonsils are swollen and they feel like they’re not attached, but instead caught in your throat.

I remember now.

I had that cold, and it sucks. Go to bed, get steve to bring you hot tea and chicken soup. zinc. vitamin C. sleep.

Ew. I’ve had that. I wound up swallowing one of my tonsils, too. Yup. It fell off and I swallowed it. I didn’t know about it until much later when a doctor asked me whether I’d had my tonsils out and was surprised when I said no.

Take care of yourself. LOTS of tea (Throat Coat is nice), miso soup, chicken broth with lots of garlic and parsley, and take advil or something for the inflammation and pain. It’s better to take something for it when it gets that bad.

Gargle with salt water. Especially ocean salt water. As good a reason as any to drive to the coast.

the only time my throat has hurt that bad was with strep throat. You may want to get a throat culture to be certain. Any fever accompanying the sore throat?

you know, i dunno. if i’m worse after the plane flight, i’ll probably see a doctor in ohio…
