Escape to Witch Mountain, by Alexander Key. Why, why, why is he completely out of print? I loved that book. It was in my middle school library.

Ginu Kamani's "Junglee Girl." Beats the better-known Indian-American collections by Divakaruni and Lahiri all hollow.

Book: Emma Who Saved My Life (Wilton Barnhardt)
Movie: The Year My Voice Broke (written & directed by John Duigan)

Both of these are utterly charming and so bittersweet. I can't think of a graphic novel obscure enough. Guess I have some more reading to do!

Yeah, I saw the face XD They showed her being painted into the wall in the Making of the Movie on the DVD ^_^

Hmm.. I'll see if I can find "Memories of a Murder" around, thanks :P

Anou.. well, I only saw it once, and that was a couple months ago.. I guess I could see how the 'Close Friendship' would be possible.. but we can dream, right? XD Actually, I just can't remember. I can't remember any dialog or scenes that directly state 'These girls are in love,' but that doesn't mean that there weren't any, and again, it has been a while since I seen it. *shrug*

Memento Mori does directly deal with a secret relationship.. but don't see it unless you're ready for a heartbreak T-T
