All hail the Amtrak Cascades. Far, far superior to driving. I’ll have to take it all the way to Vancouver B.C. one of these days.

I am proud to say that I karaoke’d both “Crazy” by Patsy Cline and “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. Happy birthday dirtylibrarian!

If you are near Seattle, you should eat here.

What did y’all do over the weekend?

Karaoke’d myself, last night: “See Emily Play” (in memory of Syd Barrett) and Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax.” Mostly just working on the damn book, though. I understand the sun was shining and stuff; maybe I’ll get to experience that next summer…

All hail Syd. I’m a big fan of “Effervescent Elephant” meself. Oh, and “Bike.”

We went to Blue Lake Park in Fairview. Really great place for a company picnic, actually. Next time we’ll rent a canoe or a rowboat. And not go when there’s an “event” that hogs up half the park and attracts too many people.

I will tell you the rest in person.

Stared at the Pacific, and also took the train! Amtrak is great except when there’s a lot of freight traffic, or if you get stuck on the Coast Starlight (always broken down and a trillion hours late) instead of the Cascades line.

Next time you are in Seattle, you should also eat here. The food is really incredible and creative, the atmosphere is teensy and lovely, and Brad is about as swell as the picture suggests.

I snuck into an extremely lame bar to see my boyfriend play music with his blues band.

I went to a wedding in Manhattan, after wandering about for a bit earlier in the day, and seeing the Empire State building. Then, on Sunday, I had a snack in Grand Central Station with some friends, and then brunch with the bride and groom and 20 of their close friends/family, and then we took a train to Syracuse. Unfortunately, the train was slightly over 2 hours late, but overall, a good weekend. Much more exciting than usual! :)
