Damn, I wish I was going to be anywhere near these cities on the dates in question.

    No words. Only sulks.

    You know what’s really irritating?

HE NEVER EVEN PLAYS IN THE TOWN WHERE HE LIVES.

I mean, I give him books for his kids, I give him bookstore discount cards, I order obscure books on music or Buddhism for him…and he never even gives a concert for us. Once he appeared on a fundraiser album for the local hospital. That was it. All we get is gawking tourists and good Tom Waits stories.

Watch as I don’t make a seething comment about living in the same state as the guy and still not getting to see him play live. *grumblemutterwhinewhinewhine*

Woo Hoo! We’re going to be in Michigan from the 2nd to the 15th! I wonder if we’ll be able to make the drive from Pentwater to Detriot. I’ll have post all about it if we manage to go see it.

After putting it off for decades, I just this year let Tom Waits into my consciousness. I am a different person.

NYC isn’t on his list and small wonder. Maybe he’s raising money for New Orleans….

(By the way, the recent book, Innocent When you Dream, edited by Mac Montandon, collects interviews and reviews of Waits going back 30 years and is well worth the dosh.)

Akron has a very nice place, if it’s the place at U of Akron. I saw Miss Siagon there. Don’t know if it’s the same place.

It’s not the same place. The Civic is downtown by the Aeros baseball stadium. You’re thinking of EJ Thomas Hall, which is part of Akron U.

    Oh, that fargin’ hurts.

I have no idea why, but I missed this post.

Had I not somehow missed this post, I would have realized that Tom Waits was playing at Thomas Wolfe less than an hour from the spot where I sit grinding my teeth in frustration at this very moment.

“Expletive deleted” doesn’t even begin to cover it.
