Sacco, Shire and sunset

As those of y’all who also read jemale‘s journal already know, we went to Bend for the day.

We were looking for an antiquarian bookseller, but found Joe Sacco instead, and that was really quite an excellent trade.

I know you can’t really tell who he is from that photo, but trust me on this.

And then we went to the Shire.


That says “Swordsmen Lot 13.”

We were too late for the tour, but I took this through the kitchen door of the model. Hobbits go for stainless steel appliances, apparently.


Instructions on one of the boxes near the blue pipes. I like the reassurance at the end.

    Hey, we’ve got a Shire Hall here – though it’s populated by government flunkies, rather than hobbits…
