When it’s half an hour before the coffeeshop is supposed to close

and the music starts to get louder and louder, and more and more discordant, you have to wonder — is the barista really hoping to drive everybody out and get home a little early?

Bonus points for shutting off lights and making as much clatter as possible stacking dishes.

I’ve heard that when you have a party you should signal to your guests that it’s time to go by making coffee…I guess that wouldn’t work in this case though.

It is at that point that you should approach the counter and order a grande extra skinny double whip mocha machiatto. While talking on your cell phone.

And get me a chai while you’re up, please.
