Are you gonna be anything for Halloween?

If so, what?

Also, what do you think I should be? I have a costumes-seriously-encouraged party to attend and I have no ideas At.All.

I am not good at costumes, or at least I am not good at putting together costumes that people can parse. One year I went as a butch from the 1930s and people thought I was one of the Men in Black. Another year carapace_green and I went as the old Anne Merkel and the new Anne Merkel from the excellent Why I Hate Saturn, and people thought she was Death from Sandman and I was some chick in a CAT Diesel Power cap.

my girlfriend and i are going as crows in suits, possibly interpretable as gangster crows, with big-beaked masks. i’m not sure this ounts as ‘being’ anything.

I wanted to be Hedwig, but I can’t find a good wig for a reasonable price. I’ll prolly just dig out my old goth clothes for the day, unless I think of something better that isn’t too expensive or complicated.

I was also considering Maude Lebowski, but I can’t sem to find that costume anywhere either.

I am going as Nymphadora Tonks from the Harry Potter books! I have made myself a Ministry of Magic ID badge and I’m spraying my hair pink and it is going to RULE.

And by RULE I mean BE UTTERLY RIDICULOUS.

This is absolutely brilliant — I have this bright purple wig and I’ve been trying to come up with something good to do with it for years. I think this is it!

Hey, at least you look like SOMETHING when you go out, eh?
I’m going as a gothic angel.

    You both went as ANNE?

I am SO IMPRESSED I can’t stop smiling. Brill. Absolutely Brill.

I’m going as Amelia Earhart, if only because the costume is ridiculously easy to put together. Last year I tried Anais Nin but just ended up looking like some chick in her undergarments. It was fun.

I’m going to dress up as a student at a private liberal arts college in NE Ohio who is drowning in debt. Hurray!

i’ve always believed it was the dressing up that was important, not neccesarily the AS anything. we always just put on silly clothes, our favourite wigs, and masks- or painted our faces. why go to the worry of being anything if people will guess wrong anyway?

I am contemplating going as Emperor Zombie from Screw-On Head but probably I’ll just be Ghede or Saturday. i have no idea what i’m doing.

i’ve been facing the costume quandry too. my friends in kzoo reminded me this weekend that dressing up as a nun is always a good choice, and i may go that route.
