Hey y’all: Inspired by the fact that RULES is coming out in just a few months, and by looking closely at some other nifty author sites mentioned in this discussion, I’m thinking it’s time to step up my game, website-wise.

So, folks who read this via livejournal, if you wouldn’t mind looking at sararyan.com, which is mostly the same as this, but also has two! other! columns! and a different header, and letting me know what you’d like to see, I’d sure appreciate it.

Things I’m already planning:

  • a findable, substantive bio,
  • a RULES subsite,
  • some kind of regularly updated “what I’m reading/listening to/watching” links section, perhaps with pretty pictures of book covers, album covers, &c.,
  • more information about school, library, & bookstore visits

What else? Thanks in advance!

Red-carpet photos of you and Steve getting out of limos at book awards dinners.

    Also, fan art.

Thumbs-up for the future additions, especially the bio and your current reads/etc. I recommend an easy-to-navigate menu with all of the necessary topics - books, bio, news, links, rules, appearances, contact - even if it’s simply a vertical text menu, it will help readers find whatever they came for, and simply click on through. :) YAY for the Rules subsite! Let me know if you need any webdesign assistance or just another set of eyes.

I love to know what other writers are reading….I use Frazy.com to post pictures of books online and LastFM to show my music charts.

    Hey,

This is kind of off topic by a mile but I just finished reading ‘Empress of the world’ and decided to check out your website. Loved the book and am thrilled to find out that there’s a sequel.
Just out of curiosity is it about Nic and Battle or only Battle as the summary suggests?

Thanks! Good luck with the book release and the updated website.

A list of your favorite passages from the Bible.

Actually, I second Kip’s appeal for more photos, albeit without the sarcasm (I mean, really!). You and the hubby. The hubby and the kitty. The kitty and you. The hubby, the kitty, and you. And, yes, definitely the boots.

It also depends on what sort of reader/author interaction you are looking for. You already blog. The changes you have already listed look like enough work for someone with a full time job. Alas, I am not a self-promotion genius, so take my thoughts with a pound of salt. Kosher. Not that iodized crap.

Definitely a navigation bar. Links to more lists of YA LBGTQQIA books; the one you have is good, but there’s quite a bit more out there. I keep finding new books all the time. And you probably don’t have time, or inclination, but it’d be interesting to see your own collection on LibraryThing.
