Rich Mix in London on Bethnal Green: a combination gallery, cinema, cafe, lounge and BBC broadcasting studio. They have cheap matinees, a good ambience and great pictures.

Brick Lane Beigels, also in London: open 24 hours, and excellent cheap bagels. A dozen for less than £1.50, and then get a plain one with salt beef and hot mustard to eat as you walk.

Downtown/Uptown in Manhattan: cozy chairs, free internet access, good tea and an amazing chocolate fondue for sharing.

Alberta in Portland - pretty much the whole street...
