1. You can still get in on the GSA Rules giveaway!

2. But if you do not hear from me soon after you email, that is because I am Going Away To An Undisclosed Location (A Different One This Time) for a week, and I will have minimal access to the Internet. (I do not know how I will get through this, actually.)

3. If you were wondering what is good, one option would be pumpkin bread with chocolate chips, the kind that is in my oven right now.

4. Or edamame with a ginger-salt-pepper mixture, as presented by the newish sushi place within walking distance of my house. I love my neighborhood.

5. Stencil of some skulls from underneath the Hawthorne Bridge:

6. Decorative tile from the extremely ornate house where we recently attended an oddly depersonalized estate sale. We decided it was either someone’s second home, or all the ephemera had gone on the first day.

Yes, the dragon is very small.

It has come to my attention that I have not blogged about thrifting or an estate sale expedition in, like, months. So here are some photos, each suitable as a story prompt if you are so inclined.

Label on trunk in mildewy basement at estate sale. Who traveled on the Cunard line? Where did they go?

There is not actually a peculiar purple sun on this souvenir-of-Australia scarf, found at Value Village — it is a defect of my phone. Did something happen in Australia that made the former owner want to discard this?

There were two rabbits affixed to the handle of this basket, found in the Goodwill bins. Locked in an eternal race? But there’s nowhere for them to go.

They look like zombies. Will they soon seek the brains of other dolls?

The Real Oregon. Where or what is the faux Oregon?

My grandparents had this same thermometer/barometer. Theirs still had the man with the umbrella, though.

There was a plethora of anticommunist and Catholic ephemera. And one, lone, girlie picture. (But it was the last day of the sale. The proportions may have been different at the beginning.)

Why aren’t owner’s manuals this cool any more?

Creepy old baby doll with no eyes AND haunting, slightly drugged-looking lady amidst foliage. Aw yeah.
