Conferences bring out both the extrovert and introvert sides of my personality, sometimes in rapid succession. Here in Anaheim I’ve spent a lot of time ‘on’: the panel about teens in your branch library, the YA author ’speed-dating’ event — both of which I was so pleased to be able to be part of — [...]

Anaheim, here I come! As usual, my conference will be a mix of librarial and authorial. Two highlights:
Saturday June 28th, from 1:30-3:30 pm: I’m on a panel — “Teens at Your Branch Library: From Trauma to Triumph?” at the Anaheim Marriott, Platinum 3/4 (Spoiler: Yes to triumph.)
Sunday June 29th, from 9-10 am: I’m one of [...]

I’d never been to an outdoor rock festival before. As far back as the first Lollapalooza, I remember being jealous of friends who went, but somehow, I never got it together to attend one until yesterday. The Sasquatch Festival, at the Gorge.
Steve and I went with friends whose musical knowledge and experience with such events [...]

I was burned out on the notion of writing a con report until I thought of doing haikus.
Then the whole gang got into it. Here are some of mine:

Convention season, that is. I just went through my calendar for the rest of the year (!) and put in the dates of the shows I’m planning to attend.
Stumptown (April 26-27, Portland, OR)
Emerald City (May 10-11, Seattle, WA)
American Library Association (June 26-July 2, Anaheim, CA)
San Diego Comic-Con (July 24-27, in, you guessed it, San Diego, [...]

Right now I’m sitting in the lobby (where the wireless signal is much stronger than it was in my room) waiting for the shuttle I’m sharing with a couple of the other authors whose flights are similarly ludicrously early. I’m down here even earlier than I need to be because I decided my flight was [...]

Thank you guys so much for being the most excellent ‘handlers’ an author could ever desire. I’ll post more about the festival (which was fantastic), but I wanted to say that first. :)

is Saturday. I’ll be there! So will a bunch of other cool authors!
I’ll read from Rules! I’ll answer random questions! I’ll give things away! I’ll be overly caffeinated!
Hope to see you there. :)

P.S. This is not an April Fool’s.

…unsullied by spam, but I haven’t done the full upgrade to my WordPress software yet. Please email or comment if you see more evidence of spam in the posts, because rest assured that I have NOT decided that my blog would be a fine vehicle for promoting spammers’ sordid wares, or warez, as the case [...]

My apologies to anyone who clicked the “More” link on my last post and ran into a whole bunch of super creepy links. I haven’t figured out how the hack worked, but it was indeed a hack. Ew. I probably need to upgrade my WordPress.

Folks have been blogging about the new Borders “concept stores,” [...]
