Speaking and Teaching
Sara enjoys speaking and teaching about writing for young people, writing comics, and writing inclusively regardless of genre and format.
Speaking & Panel Appearances
Sara has spoken at conferences including the American Library Association, Young Adult Literature Symposium, Assembly on Literature for Adolescents, Sirens, the Portland Book Festival, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. Sara has also been a featured guest at many comic conventions, including Emerald City Comicon, Comicon International, and Wondercon.
Author Visits
Sara has extensive experience both in working with middle and high school students and teaching writing at the graduate level. They particularly enjoy supporting LGBTQIA+ writers, both youth and adults, and they are happy to tailor presentations and workshops to meet the needs and interests of your students and teachers.
Students say:
“Sara approached my work with care and empathy, and respect for me as a writer.”
“Sara really helped me to gain confidence in my writing.”
“…some of the clearest and most direct feedback I’ve ever received. It was incredibly helpful. Sara is a gem.”
